The Victors

The Victors

When a world at war threatens to tear them apart, victory isn’t won on the battlefield—it’s forged in the soul.

December, 1941   Bombs fall on Pearl Harbor, and for the Morgan family, the world changes in a heartbeat. For Laura Morgan, the horrific echoes of the Great War have never truly faded. Now, as the shadow of a new global conflict darkens her doorstep, she faces a mother’s ultimate nightmare: watching her children march off into the jaws of another devastating war.

WALT MORGAN leaves his worried family to pilot a B-17 Flying Fortress into the flak-filled daylight bombing raids over Europe. As commander of the *California Angel*, he soon transforms finto a battle-hardened leader fiercely protective of his crew.

ALEXANDRA (Alex) MORGAN defies traditional expectations to become an elite pilot in the pioneering Women’s Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) program. Her exceptional skill pushes the boundaries of what society believes a woman can achieve in wartime.

NAT, a portrait photographer who refuses to pick up a rifle, is thrust from the safety of his studio into the blood-soaked mud of the front lines. While, LILY, the vibrant daughter with a voice of gold, finds herself swept from the safety of a church choir into the smoky, electric world of big band jazz.

A gripping, deeply moving tapestry of courage, love, and tested faith, The Victors is a must-read masterpiece.

What Readers Are Saying About The Victors

GAHHHHHH! I adore this book. All the characters, the different stories (it’s so neat to see WWII from so many different points of view just in one book), the emotions…love, love, LOVE it. Highly recommended for any fans of historical-Christian fiction that doesn’t have an insanely huge focus on romance.

I love World War II, so this book was a quick favorite of mine. It was an excellent read. The characters were vivid and memorable, and the storylines were great, especially how they intertwined together. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in GREAT Christian fiction, WWII fiction, or just looking for a good read.

Once again, Cavanaugh was able to intertwine multiple stories within one novel. The outcome was superb. As a WW2 historian myself, I thought he did a good job of tying in the Air Corp, Army, and civilian life. Excellent addition to the American Family Portrait series and a definite must read for those who love Christian fiction.

This book was excellent. I couldn’t put it down. If you love history, then you will love this book. The author really captures how life was like during the war.

Jack Cavanaugh’s An American Family Portrait series includes some of my all-time favorite historical fiction novels. The Victors continues the saga. It is truly an inspiring, informative, and entertaining novel that is extremely well written and not soon forgotten.

Every time I read Cavanaugh, I like his books just a little more. This one features five story threads masterfully written so that one’s emotions are alternately tugged and prodded.

I was totally captivated by all of Jack Cavanaugh’s books the American Family Portrait series. Though the stories are fictional, Mr. Cavanaugh created characters that were believable and real to this reader. Reading the stories was a true enjoyment and a series worth sharing and reading again someday.
